Welcome to the Denverdun Web Site
THE LATEST NEWS as at 25th August 2011
As one grows older the faster time appears to pass. Here we are at the end of August with Autumn nearly upon us.
Since I last up dated this introduction to the family web site there are two occasions of note.
The first was on 23rd June when our dear Aunt Ella reached her 100th birthday; the very first family member to reach this milestone. Mary arranged a party which Elisabeth, Vicky and Rebecca attended.
The second was that Elisabeth, albeit reluctantly, became 70. The children organised a surprise party for her family and friends. John, Rebecca and Chris rented a cottage in Denver very near to Paul & Vicky’s house where the party was to be. Despite so many being it on it, the surprise was maintained.
Rebecca’s younger son took a gap year and having earnt the money went to South East Asia for three months. He kept a journal on a web site; Phil Clayton somewhere in South East Asia. It is well written and well worth reading. Elder son James finished his time at Exeter with the predicted 2.1. He now faces the fearful task of finding a job. He is back home whilst his brother is off to York for three years.
Ella continues her studies in London. She has just returned from Switzerland. She was taken there by the family for whom she works and also child sits. Her brother is in Wales on the last of the DOE Gold tests; another visit to Buck House looms.
John is spending four weeks in Spain with friends including for two weeks his Canadian friends. When he returns to work in September it will be to a totally new school.
Elisabeth had a hip revision on 2nd February; it was a long and difficult operation and she was restricted in many ways for some four months. Having made a full recovery and a week back she tripped and fell in the garden. She cracked her head on the paving edge, blood was pumping out, she couldn’t get up and I had to call 999. The paramedics arrived in eight minutes but in then took four hours for an ambulance to arrive; for the whole of that time the two paramedics held Elisabeth’s head steady. Fortunately apart from four stitches no damage was done, just badly bruised knees and elbows.
Jane has had to endure yet another operation, this time in London. This appears to have been very successful, (at last), and she can now spear and eat normally.

There must be more events in the family but have not been passed to me for inclusion on this site. I can only repeat that I would be very happy to add your stories and pictures; you only have to send them to me. The same applies to the family trees, both Dunthorne and Lawrenson.
